MY PERSONAL STORY
People ask me, what made me want to do this job. My answer is always the same.
In my younger years I was never particularly fit or healthy, I smoked and never exercised. As a result in my late teens I became asthmatic and in my 20's I had a breathing rate of someone in their 80's. I also suffered badly with anxiety to the point I struggled leaving the house as I knew I would have a panic attack.
So one day I made a decision that would change my life for the better!
I gave up smoking and replaced it with exercise. I started right from the beginning and built myself up.
My asthma improved and just as importantly my anxiety decreased to the point I felt I could live a normal life again.
Now in my 40's not only am I fitter than what I was in my 20's but now my anxiety is non existent and my asthma is so well controlled that I've run half marathons and marathons and have managed to come off my inhalers. When I have times of low mood or stress, exercise is my go to place to let off my endorphins, I call them my 'happy dolphins' and I feel so much better.
I wanted to do what I could to help other people have a better quality of life, mentally as well as physically.
I am a great believer that you have to treat the mind as well as the body and because of that I want to help people with physical and mental health issues that affect their life. I want to be able to do this through exercise and letting off your happy dolphins.
In my experience I find that exercise doesn't just make you feel physically better but also helps mental health in terms of anxiety and depression. Sometimes anxiety and depression can be bought on by having a physical illness that limits your quality of life. So improving the quality of life for your body in turn improves quality of life mentally and emotionally.
So let me have the pleasure of helping you get on track!
